Everything about the spatula is on purpose

  • The Size
The depth and width of the flat part of the spatula is the perfect size of a smash burger. When you smash the burger down on the griddle and you see it hit the edge of the spatula you know it’s the right size. It’s also big enough to move large items like salmon or turning a brisket in the smoker.
  • The Handle
The handle is long enough so when you’ve got a griddle full of burgers you can use 2 hands. I can easily fit 18 burgers on my flat top griddle. A normal spatula wouldn’t smash 18 burgers, it would bend. Even if it would your hand and arm would get tired and sore and maybe burned. I’ve been there. To caramelize the outside of the burger you have to have a hot surface. How many times do you see people using the flat side to smash a burger down and use another spatula the help push. The handle is flared at the bottom so it’s kind of a stop point from your hand slipping too far down and getting close to the heat. About the time you’ve smashed your 12th burger your fingers are getting hot with a normal spatula. Not with ours.
  • The Angle
The angle of the spatula bends are such that it is comfortable for the wrist and again can be used extensively over a hot griddle and keep your hand away from the heat or hot grease spattering.
  • Handle Material
We are using classic American quarter sawn hard woods for the handle. Quarter sawn wood is the strongest part of the wood and even more stable than plain sawn and is less prone to cupping or warping. White Oak is our standard wood. It has a higher density than most woods and is the wood used to store wine, whiskey all over the world. White oak is used to make fine furniture and even boats. It has excellent strength, look and non-conductive qualities keeping it from getting too hot. We also offer Black Walnut as a standard option. We will be offering other woods soon, like Cherry, Red Oak, Hard Maple.
  • Metal Finish
Our metal is stainless steel considered a high cooking grade used in industry. We offer the standard finish or if you are in a sunny area maybe you prefer the non-glare finish. For one it looks awesome but also doesn’t reflect the sun.
